Amanda Thompson OBE has been both Producer and Director of the Hot Ice Show for over 20 years. In 2005 she also took over as Managing Director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and has managed to successfully combine the two major and demanding roles. This is the 26th year that Amanda has produced and directed the world famous Hot Ice Show at Pleasure Beach Arena. She began her career in the ice skating world producing ice shows in the USA over 30 years ago.
As well as juggling her roles as Managing Director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Stageworks, Amanda also sits on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and has been nominated to lead the global attractions industry trade association as its chairman of the board in 2020. Amanda has been a dedicated and involved IAAPA member for decades. She has served two terms on the IAAPA Board of Directors and currently chairs the IAAPA Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Regional Advisory Committee.
Amanda has produced and directed shows throughout the world. She began her career in the USA and worked in the USA for many years. She has produced shows in Sweeden, Thailand, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, America and France. She has devised and worked on many types of theatrical productions. She is a perfectionist and truly passionate about all the shows she has worked on. She always delivers and gets the best from each performer.
Amanda’s experience in the industry has shown beyond doubt that she is accustomed to tackling difficult and demanding workloads head-on. She has a talent for pushing the boundaries of theatrical achievement and demanding the very best from her performers.
She is personally involved in every aspect of the production from designing and creating the many exquisite and extravagant costumes, working closely with the musical director to produce a mesmerising soundtrack, developing the dramatic displays, artistic lighting and special effects which will thrill and entertain millions with technical finesse.
Once again, Amanda is delighted to welcome Oula Jaaskelainen back to the Hot Ice Show to create stunning choreography for the show with 32 performers from over 10 countries.
OULA
JAASKELAINEN
Hot Ice Choreographer
Oula Jaaskelainen began his professional skating career here at the Pleasure Beach Arena in 1994 when performing in the fabulous Hot Ice Show. He performed in this show for 12 years and prior to this, he was a World and Olympic competitor. Now Oula uses his skills to train future ice champions. Most recently he has been at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Gangneung, South Korea. Oula has also recently returned from the International Skating Union Junior Grand Prix Circuit, part of a series of international competitions organised by the International Skating Union.
Oula travels widely in his profession working with his team of accredited talented students and choreographing competitive programs, major shows and events. Most recently he was requested to choreograph for the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in China, the largest ice and snow festival in the world.
As the most qualified ice skating coach in South Africa, Oula is currently based in the Cape Town Ice Station. This is Oula’s 8th year choreographing the Hot Ice Show.

Lynsey Brown trained at the Knightswood Dance School of Scotland MTC and at Laine Theatre Arts. Working all over the
the world as a professional dancer, she began her association with Stageworks Worldwide Productions in 2004 performing in both Mystique and Forbidden for over 4 years.
Most recently she has been choreographing our amazing Christmas Party Nights, Aladdin The Pantomime at the Globe and numerous other shows and events across the UK. Her natural ability to perform as well as her skill as a choreographer brings out the best in all the show’s cast.
ALEXA
ROBINSON
Hot Ice Casting Manager
Alexa trained at the Amanda McGlynn Academy in Middlesbrough before winning a full scholarship to complete her training at the prestigious Italia Conti Theatre School in London. Her vast theatre experience include productions such as Love Never Dies, Aladdin and Carmen for renowned producers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber and
Michael Rose, as well as several TV programmes for leading channels such as the BBC and Channel 4.
As a multi-skilled contortionist, gymnast and national competitor she joined Stageworks in 2004 and performed in the
magic and illusion show, Mystique for two years. Alexa’s knowledge of performance and artistry has given her great insight into the casting process and she now plays a key role in the formation of our shows as cast coordinator.
